PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Jan 24: In an era of rapid social change and evolving perspectives, literature is undergoing a quiet yet meaningful transformation. Readers today seek not only well-crafted words but also the lived realities, emotions, and truths behind them.

Recognising this shift, Sahityasindhika is stepping forward with a renewed literary vision that blends creativity with contemporary thought and social sensitivity. More than a publishing platform, Sahityasindhika aims to emerge as a collective voice for writers by bringing their journeys, struggles, and lived experiences into public discourse.

A Platform Beyond Conventional Literary Events

As part of this vision, Sahityasindhika is organising a special literary gathering titled “Kalam Ka Karwan”, scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 21, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Café Regal, Bistupur, Jamshedpur.

The programme will be anchored by members of Humans of Jamshedpur, adding a narrative-driven and people-centric dimension to the event.

Unlike conventional literary events focused mainly on poetry readings or formal discussions, Kalam Ka Karwan aims to highlight the untold stories of writers—their personal struggles, creative conflicts, social challenges, and moments of self-doubt that rarely find space on public platforms.

Eminent Guests and Interactive Sessions

To expand the reach of these literary conversations and encourage digital engagement, Shabdvaani has joined the initiative as the Social Media Participation Partner.

The event will feature the presence of journalist and social activist Anni Amrita as the chief guest, while senior journalist Chandrashekhar Singh will attend as the special guest. Their participation is expected to add depth to discussions around literature, society, and ideology.

An interactive dialogue with writers and creators from Jamshedpur will form a key part of the programme. The discussion will focus on themes such as the social responsibility of literature, freedom of expression, creative integrity, and the challenges faced by writers in contemporary times, especially benefiting young and emerging literary voices.

Highlight Session on Writers’ Journeys

The highlight of the evening will be a special session titled “Struggles and Untold Stories of Writers”, where selected writers will openly share their literary journeys, including early failures, societal responses, family support, inner conflicts, and the recognition achieved through perseverance. These stories will offer rare insights into the lives of writers beyond their published works.

Sahityasindhika believes that literature is not merely an art to be consumed, but a powerful medium to foster empathy, awareness, and critical thinking. In this spirit, Kalam Ka Karwan is seen as a meaningful step towards strengthening literary consciousness in Jamshedpur.

The organisers have extended an open invitation to literature lovers, young readers, writers, and creatively inclined individuals to be part of this unique literary journey and connect with the voices behind the words.
