Dhanbad, Dec. 24: Noted naturalist AK Sahay has said there is a system of rewards and Punishment in nature.
“The first person to talk about it was Al Gore, a Nobel laureate, who said this in one of his speeches,” he said.
To buttress his point, Sahay plunged into statistics and found that COVID-19 had attacked more people in developed countries like the USA than in less developed countries.

COVID-19 cases

On a more profound study, he learned that after launching industrialisation, the British govt went on record saying that even though we earned lots of wealth, we also lost many citizens because of new diseases.
Then, he studied the statistics of COVID-19 cases worldwide. For example, there were 11 crore Covid cases in the USA compared to 45 lakhs in India.

“When we compare the crucial facts, we find that the USA population is 33 crores. It has no population congestion like India. Also, it has better medical facilities than India,” he pointed out.
Sahay went on to study further and found very few cases in the countryside, which is the case in least developed countries.

Ecological balance

Sahay said that development means exploiting natural resources to make life more comfortable for human beings without any regard for the damage caused to ecological balance.
He is convinced that Al Gore was right when he said there is a reward and punishment system.
Sahay has urged the Central and state governments to slow development for a few years.
“Let us help Mother Nature recover, or something more horrendous than Covid may come,” he added.
“The best way to avert such an eventuality is to plant trees on a massive scale,” he said and added that UNO should note it.
