PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, March 30: Jharkhand is set to experience unsettled weather over the coming days, with partly cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and light to moderate rainfall expected across various regions of the state.

Thunderstorms and rain forecast across regions

According to the latest meteorological outlook, isolated parts of north-eastern and north-western Jharkhand may witness thunderstorm activity on March 30, with lightning and gusty winds ranging between 30–50 kmph at some places.

On March 31, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely across most areas, except the north-western region. The southern districts may see thunderstorm activity on April 1, followed by rainfall over the south-western and adjoining central parts on April 2.

Weather conditions are expected to remain similar in the following days, with isolated rainfall and thunderstorms over western and central regions on April 3, and across most of the state—barring southern parts—on April 4.

Weather systems active, advisory issued

Meteorological conditions are being influenced by a trough extending from Bihar to Gangetic West Bengal across Jharkhand at about 1.5 km above mean sea level.

An upper air cyclonic circulation over north Odisha and adjoining areas is further intensifying the instability. A wind discontinuity stretches from this system down to South Tamil Nadu, passing through parts of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and interior Karnataka.

Recent observations recorded light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms at isolated places, with the highest rainfall of 12.4 mm reported from Maheshpur in Pakur district.

Residents are advised to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and take necessary precautions against lightning and strong winds.
