Jharkhand CJ Sonak begins Kolhan tour, to inspect courts across key districts

Jamshedpur, April 3: Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak arrived in Jamshedpur on Friday to begin a multi-district tour of the Kolhan region, where he will inspect courts and review judicial infrastructure and functioning.

The Chief Justice was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi welcomed him with a bouquet and a commemorative book.

The reception also featured a cultural welcome, with local folk artists performing traditional dances. Justice Sonak interacted with them and played instruments like the nagara and mandar.

Senior officials present included District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Pandey, SSP Piyush Pandey, City SP Kumar Shivashish, Rural SP Rishabh Garg, and others.

Court inspections in Kolhan region

As part of his itinerary, the Chief Justice will inspect civil courts in Seraikela and Chaibasa, focusing on infrastructure, case management systems, and overall functioning.

He will be accompanied by Registrar General Satyaprakash Singh and other senior judicial officials.

Visit to key locations, extended tour

The visit also includes stops at the Centre for Excellence and the Tata Motors plant, offering insights into the region’s industrial and civic landscape.

Justice Sonak will proceed to Ghatshila for an overnight stay before continuing his tour to Seraikela, Chaibasa, Noamundi, Kiriburu, and Chakradharpur, covering key judicial and administrative centres before returning to Ranchi.

Focus on coordination and justice delivery

Ahead of the visit, Protocol Registrar Neelendu Sharan directed officials to ensure proper security, coordination, and adherence to protocol.

District officials and judicial officers are expected to present status reports and highlight challenges during the inspections.

The visit is aimed at strengthening grassroots judicial systems, improving coordination, and enhancing the efficiency of justice delivery in the Kolhan region.
