Jamshedpur, April 7: Adityapur was shaken on Tuesday morning after unidentified gunmen opened fire at the residence of BJP leader Sapan Kumar Das, triggering fear and tension in the area.

The incident took place around 6:55 am in Saldih Basti near ESI Hospital, when Das and his family were engaged in their daily routine.

CCTV Captures Brazen Attack

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, showing two assailants approaching the house, firing three rounds at a window, and fleeing the spot. They were reportedly assisted by another accomplice waiting nearby on a scooter.

Das, a well-known local figure and founder of the Shri Shri Janmashtami Puja Committee and Agradoot Sangh, was alerted by tenants immediately after the firing.

Police Launch Probe, Cartridges Recovered

Police reached the spot soon after and recovered two empty cartridges. The Adityapur police are now examining CCTV footage and following leads to identify and arrest the attackers.

While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, preliminary inputs suggest the assailants may be locals.

Rising Concern Over Law and Order

The incident has raised fresh concerns over law and order in Adityapur, especially in the wake of an earlier unsolved firing at Sanjay Electronics.

Residents have expressed anger and fear, demanding swift arrests, stricter policing, and improved security measures to restore confidence in the area.
