Jamshedpur, April 8: Jharkhand is set to witness unstable weather conditions over April 8 and 9, with forecasts warning of thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds across several parts of the state.
On April 8, eastern and adjoining central regions are likely to experience intense weather activity, including hailstorms and thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 50–60 kmph.
Other parts of the state may also see thunderstorms and lightning, though with relatively lower wind speeds of 40–50 kmph.
Weather Activity to Continue Tomorrow
The unsettled weather is expected to persist on April 9, with eastern and nearby central areas again likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 50 kmph.
Why the Weather Is Turning Unstable
Meteorological conditions show multiple systems influencing the region. An east–west trough extends from northwest Uttar Pradesh to Manipur, passing through Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, North Bangladesh, Meghalaya, and southeast Assam at about 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Additionally, a north–south trough runs from a cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh to the Gulf of Mannar, passing through Telangana, Rayalaseema, and interior Tamil Nadu at around 0.9 km above mean sea level.
The interaction of these systems is causing atmospheric instability and triggering widespread convective activity over Jharkhand.
Residents are advised to stay alert during thunderstorms, especially due to the risk of lightning strikes and strong winds, and to take necessary precautions.
