PINAKI MAJUMDAR
Jamshedpur, June 12: Rail services on the Chakradharpur Division will be affected due to track renewal work between Mahalimurup and Sini stations, prompting the cancellation of six MEMU trains.

The South Eastern Railway has undertaken a major track modernisation exercise involving the replacement of old sleepers on the down line using a Track Renewal Train (TRT) machine. The work is aimed at improving track safety, operational efficiency and train movement in the section.

TRT Block on June 13 and 14
According to railway officials, the renewal work will be carried out on June 13 and 14. To facilitate the project, a TRT block has been scheduled from 9.30 am to 1.15 pm on both days, resulting in a traffic suspension of three hours and 45 minutes.

Officials said the replacement of old sleepers will help remove existing speed restrictions on the Mahalimurup–Sini section, allowing smoother train operations and enhancing safety standards.
