Jamshedpur, July 7: Jharkhand is expected to witness widespread rainfall over the next few days as a depression over southern Jharkhand and adjoining north interior Odisha continues to influence the state’s weather.
IMD Forecast for Jharkhand
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, the state is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers at most places till July 10. The weather office has also said there will be no significant change in the maximum temperature during the next three days.
The depression, which originated over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to move northwestwards across Jharkhand, north Chhattisgarh and adjoining east Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours.
Thunderstorms, Lightning and Heavy Rain Alert
The IMD has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places across Jharkhand from July 7 to July 10.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated locations over north-eastern and adjoining central Jharkhand on July 7, and over north-eastern districts on July 8.
Temperature Outlook
The weather office said there will be no major change in the maximum temperature over the next three days. Thereafter, temperatures are expected to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the following two days.
The IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre has advised residents to remain alert during thunderstorms, lightning and periods of intense rainfall, particularly in districts covered by the heavy rain warning.
