Jamshedpur, August 12: Mango police in Jamshedpur have arrested a man who had allegedly been absconding in connection with a case involving allegations of sexual exploitation, extortion, cheating and criminal intimidation.
The accused has been identified as Rana alias Devendra Das Rai, a resident of Parsudih. Police said he was arrested in compliance with a court order and is being questioned in connection with the case.
According to police, an FIR was registered at Mango police station on July 3, 2026, against the accused. The complaint contains allegations of pressuring the complainant into a sexual relationship, extortion, cheating and criminal intimidation.
Police said the accused had allegedly remained untraceable since the case was registered.
Following the court’s direction, investigators intensified efforts to locate him and subsequently took him into custody.

Police Probe Allegations
Investigators are now examining the allegations and collecting relevant evidence and documents as part of the probe.
During questioning, police are also seeking to establish the accused’s alleged role in the case and determine whether any other individuals were involved.
Police officials said the investigation was being conducted on the basis of available evidence and documentary material.
They stressed that the allegations against the accused are yet to be established. The veracity of the charges will ultimately be determined by the court based on the evidence presented during the legal proceedings.
