Jamshedpur, August 27: Jharkhand is likely to experience another spell of widespread rain and thunderstorms over the next five days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain at isolated places across several districts.
Heavy rain, thunderstorms forecast on August 27
On August 27, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely at isolated places in northeastern Jharkhand.
Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places over northwestern and central parts of the state, including Hazaribagh, Koderma, Lohardaga, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi and Khunti.
The weather system is likely to remain active over Jharkhand through the weekend.

Rain to spread across north-central districts
On August 28, heavy rain is forecast at isolated places in the north-central districts of Chatra, Hazaribagh, Koderma and Giridih. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely at isolated places.
On August 29, rain activity is expected to shift towards northeastern and southeastern Jharkhand.
Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara and Giridih, along with Dhanbad and the Kolhan districts of West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan, may receive heavy rain at isolated places.
Similar weather conditions are likely to persist on August 30 and 31, with heavy rain expected over northeastern, central and southeastern parts of the state.
Fresh low-pressure system likely over Bay of Bengal
The IMD said a low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas persisted at 8.30 am on Thursday. Its associated cyclonic circulation extended up to 5.8 km above mean sea level and was tilting southwestwards.
The monsoon trough continues to run from Amritsar through Ambala, Muzaffarnagar, the centre of the low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, Ranchi and Digha, before extending southeastwards towards the northeast Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, another weather system is developing over the Bay of Bengal. An upper-air cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal has shifted to the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-north Odisha coasts, extending between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Under its influence, the IMD has forecast the formation of a fresh low-pressure area around August 29 over the region.
The developing system could further sustain rain and thunderstorm activity over Jharkhand in the coming days.
With lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain expected in different parts of the state, residents have been advised to remain alert, particularly during thunderstorms.
People are advised to avoid taking shelter under isolated trees or near exposed structures during lightning and strong winds.
