Giridih, September 17: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday visited the Harsinhraydih residence of late former Jharkhand Cabinet Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu in Giridih and attended his (twelfth-day ritual) ceremony.
The Chief Minister offered floral tributes at the portrait of the late minister and met his bereaved family members, including his wife, son and daughter. He expressed his condolences and prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the family to overcome the loss.
Speaking to the media, Soren described the untimely demise of Sudivya Kumar Sonu as a deeply painful and irreparable loss for Jharkhand.
“Everyone is aware of the tragic and untimely passing of our elder brother Sudivya Kumar Sonu. Today, the Dwadash Karma rituals are being performed according to tradition, and we have bid him a final farewell. This is a deeply tragic moment and an irreparable loss to the state, one that will be extremely difficult to fill,” Soren said.
He recalled Sonu’s active role as a minister and praised his dynamism, courage and commitment to public service.
“Sudivya Kumar Sonu was highly active during his tenure as a minister. His dynamism and personality were known to everyone. Society and the state always need people like him—people with such courage and passion. Sonu possessed all these qualities and played an important role in providing direction across various sectors of the state over a long period,” the Chief Minister said.
Soren said it was still difficult to accept that Sonu was no longer among them.
“It is still hard to accept the reality that he is no longer with us. Neither we nor anyone else can change the will of destiny; we must all abide by it,” he said.
The Chief Minister also noted that people had come to the ceremony rising above political differences.
“People have risen above party lines to attend the Dwadash Karma ceremony. Sudivya Sonu was a man of remarkable character who championed the causes of all people and sections of society while carving out a distinct identity for himself,” Soren said.
He added, “Even though the late Sudivya ‘Bhaiya’ is no longer with us, he will remain a beacon of inspiration.”
Soren prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family. He also met members of the public who had gathered for the ceremony and offered them words of comfort.
Kalpana Soren Pays Tribute
MLA Kalpana Soren also paid floral tributes to the portrait of the late Sudivya Kumar Sonu. She met the bereaved family and expressed her condolences, praying for their strength during the difficult period.
Ministers, Officials and Supporters Attend
Several Cabinet ministers, Rajya Sabha MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, senior state government officials, Giridih district administration officials, public representatives, local residents, supporters and admirers attended the ceremony.
They paid their respects to the late minister and expressed solidarity with his family during the mourning period.
