Daltonganj, September 23: A tragedy struck a tribal family in Latehar during the Karma Puja festivities after a 32-year-old woman was found hanging inside her house at Banpura village under Latehar Sadar police station limits on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Lalmani Devi, 32, was found by her 12-year-old son, who brought her body down, said Latehar police station officer-in-charge Ashok Paswan.

Son finds mother hanging
According to police, Lalmani Devi’s husband, Karamdev Singh, 42, was away in the market with their two other children when the incident came to light.
Police said the deceased’s mother did not lodge any complaint against Karamdev Singh and told the police that he had been a caring husband who looked after her daughter.
Police register unnatural death case
Police said villagers described Lalmani Devi as being mentally fragile. However, the exact circumstances leading to her death have not been established.
An unnatural death (UD) case has been registered, and the body was sent to Sadar Hospital, Latehar, for post-mortem examination.
Police said further details would emerge after the post-mortem examination and investigation.
