Daltonganj, September 23: The Palamu district administration will launch an anti-encroachment drive at Kinni under Chainpur Anchal on Thursday, September 24, to clear 5.74 acres of government land following a civil court judgment in favour of the administration.
According to an official press note issued by the district public relations office, the encroachment removal drive will cover Khata No. 19, Plot No. 247/781 at Kinni. The land has been identified as government land.
Acting on the directions of Palamu DC Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, the administration has asked encroachers to voluntarily vacate the land before September 24. Failing this, the administration will remove the encroachments during the scheduled drive.

Civil suit delayed land clearance for 14–15 years
Additional Collector Kundan Kumar said the 5.74-acre plot had remained embroiled in a civil suit for several years. The court has now ruled in favour of the district administration, paving the way for clearance of the government land.
Under the Jharkhand Public Land Encroachment Act, notices have been served on 10 identified encroachers, directing them to vacate the government land.
Most of the encroachments comprise boundary walls, while two structures—a shop and a poultry farm—are also located on the land, administrative sources said.
Solid waste plant plan was put on hold
According to administrative sources, the district administration had earlier planned to establish a highly mechanised solid waste management plant at the site.
The proposal, however, could not be implemented after some applicants approached the civil court claiming rights over the land. The litigation continued for around 14–15 years, with the judgment finally coming in favour of the district administration a few months ago.
Police prepare for possible resistance
As eviction drives can be sensitive and may trigger resistance, the Chainpur police have made arrangements to maintain law and order during the operation.
Chainpur police station officer-in-charge Lalji said the Circle Officer, Chainpur Anchal, had informed the police about Thursday’s anti-encroachment operation.
Sources said the administration apprehends resistance or protests during the drive. Anti-riot personnel, drones and magistrates are expected to be deployed to oversee the operation and maintain public order.
