Johannesburg, Dec 30: Due to pelvic inflammation, South African pacer Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test of the two-match series against India to be played from January 3-7.
The second Test is slated to take place at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
During the first test Coetzee experienced pelvic inflammation, and the situation worsened while bowling on the third day. Scans conducted on December 29 provided insights into the severity of his injury.
Coetzee was subsequently dropped from the team by head coach Shukri Conrad as a precaution. Nobody has been named as a substitute. No one has been named as a replacement.

47 international wickets in 2023
Making his debut across all formats this year, Coetzee concludes the year with an impressive record of 47 wickets in 21 international matches. The 23-year-old fast bowler has represented the Proteas in three Test matches, claiming a total of 10 wickets.
Coetzee had a standout performance in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 held in India, securing 20 wickets. In a single edition of the tournament, this stands as the highest wicket tally by any Proteas bowler.
