Jamshedpur, October 31: Jharkhand is likely to experience unsettled weather over the next few days, with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers expected at isolated places amid generally cloudy skies.
Morning fog is also likely to affect visibility across the state, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather outlook indicates that several parts of Jharkhand may witness intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms between October 31 and November 4.
On Saturday, shallow to moderate fog is likely during the morning hours, followed by generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places.
The possibility of thunderstorms and rain will continue on November 3 over southern and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand. Partly cloudy conditions are expected to persist on November 4, although the intensity and geographical spread of rainfall will depend on the movement of the weather systems.
Fresh Bay System Likely to Strengthen
Meteorologists are closely monitoring two significant weather systems.
The remnant of very severe cyclonic storm Arnab, which has weakened into a low-pressure area over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions, persisted over the same area at 8.30 am on October 31. Its associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level and is now under the influence of extra-tropical westerlies.
Meanwhile, a well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Andaman Sea has persisted over the region. Its associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression. It is subsequently expected to strengthen further into a cyclonic storm and move towards the west-central Bay of Bengal, reaching near the Andhra Pradesh coast around the evening of November 2.
Temperatures Likely to Rise, Then Ease
The IMD has forecast a gradual rise of 3–4 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures across Jharkhand during the next three days, followed by no significant change over the subsequent two days.
Minimum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged for the next two days before declining by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the following three days.
The developing Bay system will remain under close observation as Jharkhand enters November with the possibility of intermittent rain, thunderstorms and subsequent fluctuations in temperature.
