Jharkhand News: 5200 km of roads built in Jharkhand in four years, says principal secretary

Ranchi, January 11: Road Construction Department Principal Secretary Sunil Kumar said today that the state government has constructed 5200 road kilometres in the last four years.

“At the same time, 4600 kilometres of road construction is going on,” he added.

Guidance of CM Hemant Soren

Addressing a press conference at the IPRD auditorium, Kumar said under the guidance of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Road Construction Department and Building Construction Department have done better work in the entire state. The road construction portfolio is with the chief minister.

Budget utilisation

The Principal Secretary said the department had spent 95 per cent of the budget in the last four years. “Even at present, 60 per cent of the amount has been spent against the financial year 2023-24,” he added.

Kumar said that 17 thousand kilometres of roads are to be constructed in the state, out of which 14 thousand kilometres are being constructed. He added that 2000 kilometres of road are being built through the National Highway.

398 big bridges and culverts

The Principal Secretary further said that the department has completed the construction of 398 big bridges and culverts. “In the last four years, 525 schemes have been approved, the total distance of which is 6500 kilometres,” he added. He said that many road schemes in the state are being implemented through NHAI.

Ranchi Inner Ring road

Sunil Kumar said that along with rural areas of the state, roads in urban areas are also being developed. “Out of 10 parts of Ranchi’s Inner Ring Road, three parts have been approved. DPR of 194 km long Outer Ring Road has been prepared. Work is being done on the connectivity of the Ring Road, and approval for many connecting roads has also been given,” he pointed out.

Flyovers in Ranchi

He gave information about the flyover and said that approval had been given to connect Kantatoli to Sirmatoli.

“The process for constructing Harmu flyover is also being completed,” he added.

“Along with this, flyover construction is also done in many other cities. With the state government’s initiative, work is also being done on the Expressway Corridor and Tourist Expressway Corridor in the state,” he said.

“Apart from this, roads are also being built with the help of the World Bank. DPR of Karamtoli elevated road is almost ready,” he said.

Jharkhand Bhavan

Kumar also said that construction of many other buildings, including Jharkhand Bhavan, will be completed soon.

He said that the construction of buildings for the two new medical colleges with 500 bedded hospitals, a community centre, a critical care block, a sub-divisional hospital, an Engineering College, a Polytechnic Degree College, as well as various departments of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, is in process.

Director of Information and Public Relations Department Rajeev Lochan Bakshi and many Road Construction and the Building Construction Department officials attended the press conference.
