New Delhi, Jan 15: Through video conference on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the first instalment to one lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) program, which is part of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).

Additionally, the Prime Minister interacted with PM-JANMAN beneficiaries.

In order for people to benefit from central government schemes, the government reports that during the past two months, 7500 camps have been set up in more than 100 districts, where necessary documents including birth certificates, Adhar cards, and bank accounts are being created.

Schemes worth Rs 4,700 crore

Various ministries have approved schemes totalling Rs 4,700 crore, including the acceptance of proposals for constructing pucca houses for one lakh beneficiaries and developing 1200 km of roads in extremely backward regions.

In addition, proposals for the establishment of 100 girls’ hostels, 900 Anganwadi centres, 100 medical units, and 400 multipurpose centres have been approved.

Socio-economic well being of PVTGs

Aligned with the Prime Minister’s commitment to the Antyodaya vision, aimed at empowering the most marginalized individuals in remote areas, PM-JANMAN was initiated on November 15, 2023, during Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, focusing on the socio-economic well-being of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

With a budget of about Rs 24,000 crore, PM-JANMAN focuses on 11 crucial interventions through nine ministries with the goal of improving the socioeconomic conditions of the PVTGs by providing electricity, clean water and sanitation, safe housing, better access to healthcare, education, and nutrition, as well as road and telecom connectivity and opportunities for sustainable livelihood.
