Ranchi, Jan 29: The JMM has expressed confidence that CM Hemant Soren will be in Ranchi on January 31. The JMM said they will cooperate in providing the necessary information that the ED is looking for.

Party’s Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said in a press conference at the Camp Office, Ranchi on Monday that on January 20, a seven-member ED team led by the Assistant Director had come to the CM House for some information. 17-18 questions were asked from the CM. They were asking for information, pointing out alleged discrepancies.

Bhattacharya further stated that the summons issued to the CM previously did not fall under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

He was questioned about the Bargain land. It was previously revealed that this land belongs to the Bhuihar category, and its purchase and sale are not possible. Even after this inquiry, the Chief Minister was instructed by the ED to provide information on certain points by January 31. There is no problem in this and whatever information is needed will be provided, he said.

According to Supriyo, the Chief Minister is currently in Delhi for personal work. He will definitely return. Similar to the last time, this time also the Chief Minister has mentioned coming to the CM House at 1 o’clock on January 31 to provide information.

Political game being played

Supriyo Bhattacharya has stated that the Election Commission possesses all the information related to the public representatives. However, the ED is not basing its investigation on that. Besides Sohrai Bhavan in Ranchi, records of transactions that occurred between 2018-2022 were also sought. This building is in the name of the Chief Minister’s spouse. When nothing substantial is found, a political game is being played to trouble the Chief Minister. Everyone knows that the Chief Minister’s schedule is pre-determined, leaving time for essential assignments for 1-3 months.

The budget session of the Legislative Assembly for the financial year 2024-25 has been scheduled from February 9. At present, conducting an inquiry at the ED level in this manner is inappropriate. It poses difficulties for the government in carrying out other constitutional procedures. Currently, a deliberate effort is being made to create a sensation.

Governor should understand his boundaries

Supriyo, in response to media questions, stated that the Governor is not a spokesperson for any party and should understand his responsibilities. Political parties also have their own responsibilities. The way the political situation in the state has been rapidly escalated in the last 2-3 days is against democratic values.

He also mentioned to the media that there is an elected government in place, and based on the news received from sources, the state’s environment should not be allowed to deteriorate. Baseless news should not circulate.
