Ranchi, February 1: Governor CP Radhakrishnan has invited Champai Soren, nominated as the leader of the JMM combine, to take oath as chief minister tomorrow, according to a release issued by Raj Bhawan. He has been asked to prove his majority on the floor of the House within ten days.

Earlier, Soren along with  Alamgir Alam, Pradeep Yadav, Satyanand Bhokta and Vinod Singh met the Governor at 5.30 pm and urged him to invite the JMM combine leader to form the government as early as possible.

According to sources, the Governor, during the meeting, was not in the mood to invite so early, forcing the coalition to take a move to shift its MLAs to Hyderabad.

According to a political watcher, there might be two reasons for the governor’s decision. “First, he apprehended adverse comments from the Supreme Court which is set to hear Hemant Soren’s appeal against the ED action tomorrow. Second, the coalition MLAs remained intact, and there appeared no sign of dissent in their ranks,” he added.
