Daltonganj, February 3: A fleet of 67 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) is to be upgraded in Palamu.

Stating this, Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said, “On Friday,  Principal Secretary, health, Ajay Kumar Singh, in his video conferencing with the civil surgeons of Jharkhand, had directed us to pull all stops and make AAM a household name in the first-hand medical treatment.”

“The principal secretary had asked for the progress report this February month. It’s a task, and I am determined to do it,” he said.

The 67 AAMs are functional but are housed in some other government buildings.

Here are some issues. The panchayat sachivalaya, where our AAMs are functional, works from limited space. The Mukhiyas have their narrative.

Dr Anil Kumar referred to the Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Chiyanki. This is operating in a dingy room. Its ceiling is giving way.

Just by its side, there is a well-built Panchayat Sachivalaya. But neither its building nor its premises can be used by this centre.

Dr Anil Kumar said,”I will apprise the DC Palamu about it. We will pray the panchayat representatives to help us by giving us their now abandoned panchayat sachivalaya till our own does come up. It’s one government institution going into another.”

The civil surgeon took a whirlwind tour of the AAMs and asked people there to maintain public health care.

As it was Saturday, the day for the routine immunisation, a few ANMs were found away from the AAM working in the field.

12 AAMs are coming up with the 15th finance commission fund while 38 from PMAbhim.

Three of these are ready to be operational while around 4 or 5 are nearing the hand over position, added the civil surgeon. Smaller works are left to be done.

Following the directive of the principal secretary, health officials here are up and doing.

An indicator is being readied for normal operational AAMs.
