Jharkhand: Stage set for CIL Ranchi Marathon on Feb 11

Ranchi, February 9: The stage is set for the Coal India Limited (CIL) Ranchi marathon, scheduled for February 11.

CIL Chairman to be chief guest

Giving this information, senior public relations officer of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Alok Kumar Gupta said that CIL Chairman PM Prasad will be the chief guest of this mega event affiliated with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

CCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr B Veera Reddy, Director Personnel (DP) Harshnath Mishra and other officials will also grace the occasion.

CCL Ranchi is organizing this marathon on behalf of CIL.

Morhabadi stadium

The marathon will kick start from Morhabadi stadium at 4.30 am. “The event is being organised in three categories – full marathon 42 km, half marathon 21 km and 10 km race. The top seven participants in all three categories would be given cash prizes,” Gupta said.

Highest prize money marathon

It is the highest prize money marathon in Jharkhand in which the full marathon winner will get a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh while the 2nd and 3rd position holders will be given cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively. 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th holders would receive cash prizes of Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

The half marathon winner (21 km) will get a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while 2nd and 3rd position holders will receive Rs 1 lakh and Rs 60,000, respectively. Besides them, 4th, 5th,6th, and 7th position holders will get cash prizes of Rs 40,000, Rs30,000, Rs 20,00 and Rs 10,000, respectively.

In the 10 km race, the winner will get a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh while the 2nd and 3rd position holders will receive Rs 70,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively. 4th to 7th position holders will get cash prizes of Rs 25,000, 20,000, and Rs 10,000, respectively.

“Marathon is being organised by CIL and hosted by CCL to promote health, fitness and community engagement,” said the official.
