Ranchi, February 11: The Ranchi Police’s special investigation team (SIT), probing the JSSC question paper leak, arrested three persons today, including an under secretary of the Jharkhand Assembly.

Many documents and blank cheques were recovered from the arrested accused.

According to sources, Under Secretary of Jharkhand Assembly, Mohd Shamim, has been under the scanner of the SIT after the SIT got information that Shamim and his two sons are involved in the paper leak case.

After the information was confirmed, the SIT raided Shamim’s premises. During the raid, blank cheques given by many candidates, dozens of admit cards, and many mobile phones were also recovered from Shamim’s premises.

However, the police have not yet confirmed Shamim’s arrest. “We detained 11 persons in this regard, and will send two-three persons to jail tomorrow,” said a senior police officer.

DSP heads SIT

Notably, the state government has constituted an SIT to investigate the question paper leak of the JSSC combined graduate level (CGL) exam.

Ranchi Sadar DSP Sanjeev Kumar Besra heads the SIT. Many police officers, including four police inspectors, are included in the SIT.

Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha had issued an order related to this.

Notably, the JSSC CGL exam was held on January 28, 2024. But the question paper was leaked even before the exam was held.

Earlier, the SIT detained 11 persons, including two from the Chennai-based firm hired to hold the examination. They have been released but asked to remain in Ranchi for further questioning.
