New Delhi, June 29: Demanding the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is presently in CBI custody, AAP leaders and workers organized a protest near the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg in New Delhi on Saturday.
The protesters gathered at the AAP office close to the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg, raising slogans against BJP and demanding the release of Kejriwal.
They also held placards condemning the misuse of central agencies and demanding an end to dictatorship.
Section 144 imposed at DDU Marg
A senior police officer stated that measures were taken to prevent the protesters from marching towards the BJP headquarters as they had not obtained permission for the protest.

The officer said that barricades were set up and paramilitary personnel were deployed at the site to prevent the protesters from advancing.
He added that if necessary, the protesters could be detained as Section 144 of the CrPC is already in effect at DDU Marg.
Kejriwal currently in CBI custody
Earlier on June 26, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court remanded Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to three days of CBI custody.
On the same day, the court granted permission to the CBI to formally arrest Kejriwal in connection with the alleged excise scam/ liquor scam.
Earlier on June 25, Kejriwal faced a setback from the Delhi High Court as it cancelled the lower court’s decision of granting bail to him.
The High Court said that the subordinate court did not use its mind while granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal on March 21.
