Jamshedpur, May 22: Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti has been appointed as the new patron of the Research Board at Sona Devi University.

A distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Information Technology, Prof. Chakrabarti currently serves as the Director and Professor at the A.K. Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta.

He has also held positions as Assistant Professor at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in Delhi and Mandi.

His work in computer science and quantum computing has gained global recognition. Prof. Chakrabarti has been acknowledged as one of Asia’s Top 20 Data Scientists.
Prof. Chakrabarti’s contributions have been acknowledged through several awards, including the Siksha Ratna Award by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal (2018), Fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology (2022) and Fellow of COMSYS (2025).

Beyond Academia, Prof. Chakrabarti is actively involved in various professional organizations.
He serves as a senior member of IEEE and ACM. He is also a member of the Technical Expert Group of the National Quantum Mission, supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
