Assam CM claims two Jharkhand police officers arrested for following Champai Soren in Delhi

Guwahati, August 28: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that two Jharkhand police officers were following former Chief Minister Champai Soren in Delhi. The two officers have been apprehended and handed over to the Delhi Police, and are currently in custody.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Himanta stated that Champai Soren is currently a minister in the Jharkhand government and has decided to join the BJP. Until he resigns, he remains a minister and was previously the Chief Minister of Jharkhand.

Himanta mentioned that Champai Soren had visited Delhi a week ago and stayed there for three days. He travelled to Delhi again on August 26 via Kolkata. On both occasions, he stayed at a hotel with his team.

Himanta claimed that the two Jharkhand police officers followed Champai Soren both times. They were caught by people yesterday evening (August 27) and handed over to the Delhi Police.

He further claimed that the officers admitted before the Delhi Police that they were following Champai Soren in Delhi on the instructions of Prabhat Kumar, the ADG IG in charge of the Special Branch.

Himanta also mentioned that Champai Soren has filed an FIR in this matter.
