BBMKU Inter-College Badminton: PK Roy Memorial and Gurunanak College clinch titles

Maithon (Dhanbad), Sept 12: PK Roy Memorial College, Dhanbad and Gurunanak College emerged as champions in the girls and boys team events, respectively, at the 6th Binond Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University (BBMKU) Inter-College Badminton Championship, which concluded at BSK College, Maithon.

In the girls’ team final, PK Roy Memorial College defeated Bokaro Mahila College 2-0. Shruti of PK Roy Memorial College secured a comfortable 21-12, 21-12 win over Anjali Kumari in the first singles match, giving her team a 1-0 lead.

She later paired with teammate Bhyumi to overcome the Bokaro Mahila College duo of Anjali and Khushi Kumari 21-19, 21-17, ensuring PK Roy Memorial College retained the championship for the second consecutive year.

Gurunanak College Triumphs in Boys Team Championship

The boys team final saw a thrilling contest, with Gurunanak College defeating defending champions PK Roy Memorial College 2-1 to reclaim the title after two years. Ayush Raj of Gurunanak College dominated the first singles, defeating Anurag Rajak 21-10, 21-4.

In the doubles event, Gurunanak College pair Aman Choudhary and Ayush Raj overcame Pintu Kisku and Nikhil Prasad in a close three-game match, 21-14, 22-24, 21-19, sealing the championship for their college.

Felicitations

The closing ceremony was graced by BSK College Maithon Principal Dr. DP Singh as the chief guest, who presented trophies to the winners and runners-up. Also present were university selector Dr. Sanjay Kumar, PK Roy Memorial College faculty members, and team manager Dr. Kirom Rashmi Topno.

PK Roy Memorial College Principal Dr. Kavita Singh felicitated both the girls and boys teams, promising to further enhance sports facilities to maintain the institution’s dominance at the university and national level.

Sports teacher Dr. Ashutosh Rahul Tirkey and team manager Dr. Kirom Rashmi Topno praised the students for their performance, stating that they once again proved themselves as the best in the university. Faculty members also congratulated the students for their remarkable achievements.
