BBMKU Teachers body poll: No nomination on Day 2 too

Dhanbad, Dec 5: No candidate filed a nomination for any post on the second day in the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University Teachers Association (BBMKUTA) election today.

Chief Electoral Officer Dr (retired) SKL Das said that on the second day of nomination, no candidate filed a nomination for any post. “I along with Dr RS Yadav and Dr SK Sinha (deputy chief election officers) waited for candidates at the University campus from 11 am to 3 pm but no one turned up.

Now only two days (December 4 to 7) have been left for filing nomination papers in the election. Polling would be held on December 20 for 13 posts, including president (1), vice-president (5),  secretary (1), joint secretary (5) and treasurer (1).

Two candidates, Dr DK Singh and Dr Amulya Suman Beck, who had announced their candidature for the post of president and general secretary respectively also did not file their nomination today.

A senior faculty member of Sindri College Sindri said that all probable candidates are setting their chess board to ensure smooth sailing in the election.  The majority of them will file nominations tomorrow (December 6).

Meanwhile, the teachers of Bokaro-based three constituent colleges have not opened their cards for contesting the election. The teachers of BSK College Maithon will field their candidates on each post.

BSK College Maithon Teachers Association general secretary Dr Neetisha Khalkho when contacted said that she would not disclose the names of candidates before nomination but teachers of college (BSK Maithon) will contest for each post. “Now, we are finalizing the names of the proposer and endorser of the candidate,” she said.


In the meantime, Prof Ataullah Mallick and Prof Vishu Meghnani were unanimously elected president and secretary of Sindri College Sindri teachers’ body.
Besides them, Prof Sunita Jaiswal (vice-president), Manmohan Singh (assistant secretary) and Prof Surendra Kumar were also elected unanimously. The elected office bearers resolved to raise teachers-related issues at the university election strongly.
