Patna, August 1: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday announced a significant hike in honorariums for several categories of school staff, citing the move as recognition of their role in strengthening the education system.

Under the revised structure, physical education and health instructors will now receive ₹16,000 per month, double the previous amount of ₹8,000, along with an increased annual increment from ₹200 to ₹400.

The honorarium for night watchmen in secondary and higher secondary schools has also been doubled to ₹10,000 from ₹5,000.

Cooks engaged in the mid-day meal programme will see their pay rise from ₹1,650 to ₹3,300 per month.

“This will boost the morale of the working staff, and they will perform their duties with greater enthusiasm and dedication,” Kumar posted on X while making the announcement.
