Ranchi, April 3: A day after the Election Commission removed Deoghar SP Ajit Peter Dungdung, the ruling JMM questioned the credibility of the poll panel.
The JMM also attacked BJP Godda candidate Nishikant Dubey, whose complaint led to the EC’s axe on Dungdung.
Dubey is now EC spokesman: JMM
Addressing a press conference, JMM Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has become the Election Commission’s spokesperson.

Shivdutt Sharma has lodged an FIR against MP Nishikant Dubey in Jasidih police station on serious charges. “Can the investigation be stopped by removing the SP? The superintendent of police is a post that maintains law and order in the district. If any declared candidate complains against any official, he is removed directly,” he said.
EC team didn’t visit Jharkhand: JMM
Supriyo said that the Commission did not even take JMM’s opinions regarding how elections should be held in the state. “The Commission team went to all the states of the country. But Jharkhand was left out. If we had had a chance to talk to the Election Commission, we would have informed them about the actual situation in the state. But this did not happen,” he pointed out.
He said that questions are now being raised about the credibility of the Commission.
JMM is scared of defeat: BJP
Reacting sharply to the JMM charges against the EC, BJP state spokesperson and former IPS officer Arun Oraon said that 8 DMs and 12 SPs of five states, including the SP of Deoghar, have been changed following the Election Commission’s instructions. “But the JMM’s panic shows that the Deoghar SP is not a state police officer but a JMM worker,” he alleged.
EC is an impartial institution
Oraon said the Election Commission is an impartial constitutional institution committed to conducting fair elections in the country. “But the JMM considers itself above all this. The organization that is not favourable to them becomes a supporter of the BJP,” he maintained.
‘JMM Thugbandhan’
He said that the ‘JMM Thugbandhan’ was enjoying power in the state based on the results declared by the same EVM machine and the Election Commission, which the JMM was abusing.
He said that the Commission has the right to transfer and post officers. “They must take action when they receive complaints. Then JMM’s anger is like a cat scratching a pillar,” he said.
Oraon cites JMM govt’s action against upright police officers
Oraon said that the JMM should remember the achievements of its government. “How was a DSP who reported the sleeper cell in Lohardaga transferred overnight? How a police officer had to face punishment for taking action against a militant in the Tamar elections,” he recalled.
On the one hand, he said that JMM is confident that the investigation process will not stop even after the transfer, so why so much fuss? “Then why did the government need to target the Election Commission? The officer who will go should investigate and punish the guilty,” Oraon said.
“The JMM is surrounded by an all-round crisis. The public has lost faith in their party, leaders, and thinking. The action against corruption has frightened them,” he said, adding that the “INDI Thugbandhan” is counting its last breaths in Jharkhand.
