Ranchi, January 18: The BJP on Sunday demanded that the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government immediately announce dates for municipal elections, insisting that polls be conducted on party lines and through EVMs to uphold democratic principles.

The demand was raised by State BJP President and MP Aditya Sahu during an organisational meeting held at the BJP state headquarters, where preparations for the upcoming municipal elections were reviewed.

BJP Sees Victory in All 48 Urban Bodies: Aditya Sahu

Addressing party leaders and workers, Aditya Sahu said the BJP would ensure the victory of its candidates in all 48 municipal bodies in the state. He claimed that the political outcome witnessed in Maharashtra would be replicated in Jharkhand.

He alleged that the state government was delaying elections due to fear of defeat and demanded that municipal polls be conducted on party lines to strengthen grassroots democracy. Sahu also called for the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.

“The state government can misuse administrative machinery to influence voting and counting. Elections on party lines increase participation of workers who serve people directly,” he said.

Senior BJP Leaders Attend Organisational Meeting

The meeting was chaired by Aditya Sahu and attended by Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, Organisation General Secretary Karmveer Singh, Union Minister Annapurna Devi, former Chief Ministers Madhu Koda and Champai Soren, former state president Deepak Prakash, MPs Dr. Pradeep Verma and Manoj Kumar Singh, MLAs Raj Sinha and Shashibhushan Mehta, former LoP Amar Kumar Bauri, and several senior leaders and office-bearers.
