“It is embarrassing to retreat from a commitment, which I seldom do, but I am left with no choice. I am there to cheer on my country and the athletes competing in this Olympic Games, with great expectations,” she further stated in her letter.

The renowned boxer, who secured a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, was appointed as the logistical in-charge for India’s contingent in Paris Olympics to be held from July 26-August 11.

Usha stated that she would engage in the necessary consultations and promptly reveal the replacement for Mary Kom. She mentioned having a conversation with Mary Kom subsequent to receiving her letter.
