New Delhi, March 28: Justice Yashwant Varma, facing an in-house inquiry over allegations of illicit cash found at his official residence, has been repatriated from the Delhi High Court to his parent Allahabad High Court.

The transfer, recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium on March 24, was formally notified by the Central Government on Friday.

The Supreme Court Collegium had earlier clarified that Justice Varma’s transfer was independent of the ongoing investigation, which was initiated following a fire incident at his residence on Holi night.

A three-judge panel, formed by the Chief Justice of India, is conducting the probe.

Despite opposition from the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, the Law Ministry proceeded with the transfer, issuing an official notification on Friday.
