Jamshedpur, Dec 13: The 37th Convention on Quality Circles, organized by CII Jharkhand, was a two-day event focussing on fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence across industries.
The convention served as a platform for quality professionals to exchange innovative ideas, share best practices, and showcase achievements in Quality Circles (QC).
Participants from various sectors engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions, case study presentations, and interactive discussions, emphasizing the critical role of QCs in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and driving sustainable growth.
The event underscored the importance of teamwork, problem-solving, and employee involvement in achieving organizational excellence.
Ranjot Singh, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Pvt Ltd, inaugurated the competition with an inspiring welcome address. He highlighted that countries like Germany, France, and the United States have established systematic approaches and clear thought processes, introducing concepts like Kaizen, continuous improvement, and quality circles.

However, he emphasized that quality has always been an integral part of India’s culture.
He said that teamwork and doing quality work come naturally to us, which is what quality circles are all about.
He also encouraged the participants, praising their courage and dedication to taking part in the competition.
Biswajit Jena, member, CII Jharkhand State Council and Associate Vice President, RSB Transmissions Limited, introduced the judges and expressed his gratitude to the jury members for their presence at the competition.
He shared that CII has been organizing Quality Circle initiatives since 1986 through its TQM division, conducting them at state, regional, and national levels. He highlighted that this competition is a platform to showcase the eastern zone’s strength in quality management.
While acknowledging that globally, India may not yet match countries like Japan, he emphasized that India has made significant strides in quality compared to many other nations.

He reminded everyone that quality management is a continuous journey of improvement and encouraged ongoing efforts to advance to higher levels. He concluded by thanking all participants for their enthusiasm and participation.
The jury members, Prof Chandreshwar Khan, Deepak Mishra, and C. K. Mani, collectively emphasized the pivotal role of quality circles in driving organizational excellence and personal growth.
They highlighted that quality is not just limited to production or operations but extends to all aspects of life, starting with a mindset geared toward continuous improvement.
The jury underlined the importance of teamwork, innovation, and aligning the mind, body, and soul to achieve quality outcomes.
They motivated participants to view the competition as a platform for sharing ideas, learning from each other, and pushing boundaries to set new benchmarks.
