CK Nayudu Trophy: Jharkhand crush Baroda by 9 wickets

Dhanbad, Nov 11: Superb half-centuries by Shikhar Mohan (71) and Satya Setu (52) and their unbeaten 110 runs partnership for the second wicket helped Jharkhand to crush visiting Baroda by nine wickets in the CK Nayudu cricket tournament at BSL Stadium Bokaro today.

On 4th day today, Jharkhand needed 130 runs to win.  After losing the early wicket of Aryan Hoda (3) Jharkhand completed the formalities in 30 overs.

Baroda batting first had scored 207 runs in the first innings and Jharkhand scored 259 runs and took 52 runs lead. In the second innings, Baroda bundled out for 178 runs and Jharkhand scored  130 for 1 in their second innings.

Shikhar Mohan scored 71 runs facing 91 balls with six fours and two massive sixes while Satya Setu’s 52 runs came in 67 balls with six boundaries and one six.

Wreckers in chief of Baroda innings were Jharkhand’s Om Singh and Abhishek Yadav. Both bowlers took 8 wickets each in the match. They took four wickets each in both the innings.

Jharkhand team have so far defeated Haryana and Baroda and took first innings lead over Hyderabad in the group so far.

Credit also goes team’s coach

Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) officials’ credit of superb victory of the state team to head coach former Ranji Trophy star Satish Singh, bowling coach Bal Shankar Jha, Batting coach Manish Vardhan and trainer Mahdev Singh. Interestingly all four mentors of the team belong to the Dhanbad district.

JSCA executive member Binay Kumar Singh, and Dhanbad District Cricket Association president Manoj Kumar congratulated the players and team coach for their outstanding performance.
