New Delhi, Dec 18: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) is set to meet on December 27 to take stock of the prevailing political situation and chart the party’s course ahead, party sources said.

The meeting comes amid heightened political activity over the Viksit Bharat–G RAM G (Gramin Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission) Amendment Bill, which has triggered strong opposition from Congress and other Opposition parties in Parliament.

The legislation has become a key flashpoint, with the Opposition questioning both its intent and implications.

Earlier today, Congress leaders along with several Opposition MPs staged a protest within the Parliament complex, marching from the Gandhi statue to the Makar Dwar.
Holding placards and raising slogans against the renaming of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), the MPs said they would not accept any move that they believe disrespects Mahatma Gandhi.
During the protest, Opposition MPs also raised concerns over alleged atrocities against minorities, demonstrating on the Parliament premises.

Congress MPs have further objected to changes proposed under the Bill, including the renaming of MNREGA and the revised funding pattern, arguing that these alterations dilute the core spirit of the rural employment scheme.
