Mumbai, August 30: Actress-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ continues to face mounting difficulties. Since before its release, ‘Emergency’ has been embroiled in controversy.
The Sikh community across the country is protesting against the film, claiming that it depicts Sikhs as terrorists and anti-national elements. They argue that the portrayal of Sikh characters and the distortion of historical events are not only inaccurate but also offensive and hurtful to the sentiments of the Sikh community.
Sikhs appeal to CBFC
The Sikh community is demanding a ban on the film’s screening. Following this protest, there are concerns that the release of ‘Emergency’ might be further jeopardized.
On one hand, the Maharashtra Sikh Association has appealed to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to review the film ‘Emergency’ and reconsider its release.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Delhi has also issued a legal notice to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding the film ‘Emergency’.

Release date of ‘Emergency’ postponed several times
Notably, the release date of ‘Emergency’ has been postponed multiple times. Initially, the film was scheduled to be released on November 24, 2023. However, due to various reasons, the makers pushed the release date to June 14. Yet, the film did not make it to the big screen on that date either. Subsequently, the makers delayed the release once again.
Kangana Ranaut’s “Emergency” is now set to be released in theatres worldwide on September 6, 2024. However, just days before its release, the film is embroiled in controversy once more.
Kangana is also the Director of the film
