Prayagraj, Jan 19: A fierce fire broke out in the Shastri Bridge Sector-19 camp of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela area, reportedly caused by a cylinder explosion during cooking. The fire quickly spread throughout the surrounding area. Approximately 200 tents were destroyed in the fire.
Several fire brigade vehicles were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze. It is being reported that there have been no reports of any casualties in the fire incident so far.
CM Yogi takes immediate action
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the incident and reached the spot assess the situation. The CM has directed senior officials to remain present at the site. Additionally, the CM has instructed that the injured receive proper medical treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to CM Yogi Adityanath regarding the incident.

Fire controlled and evacuations made
Officials have reported that a fire broke out at the Akhil Bharatiya Dharma Sangh Gita Press Gorakhpur camp. All the belongings in the camp have been completely burnt to ashes. The fire was so intense that black smoke filled the sky over the entire surrounding area.
The fire brigade team has evacuated the entire vicinity. Teams from NDRF and SDRF are also present at the scene alongside the fire brigade.
Two to three cylinders exploded: ADG
Prayagraj ADG Bhanu Bhaskar stated that they received information about a cylinder blast in Sector 19, which caused the fire. Fire tenders, fire services, police, and SDRF teams are present at the site. People have been evacuated, and the fire has been brought under control. There have been no reports of casualties, and the situation is now normal.
He also mentioned that two to three cylinders exploded in Sector 19 of the Mahakumbh Mela, causing a massive fire in the camps. The fire has been extinguished, and everyone is safe with no injuries reported. An investigation into the incident will be conducted.
