Jamshedpur, January 29: Daytime temperatures across Jharkhand continued to remain above normal, signalling a warmer-than-usual winter phase, according to the latest Realised Weather Report issued by the India Meteorological Department, Ranchi, based on surface observations recorded at 8.30 am on Wednesday.
Temperature Overview
Major weather stations across the state reported positive departures from normal temperatures, particularly during daytime hours.
The state capital Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 26.8°C, which was 2.5°C above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 15.1°C—5.4°C above normal.

In Jamshedpur, the maximum temperature stood at 29.5°C (+2.5°C), while the minimum was recorded at 16.2°C, marking a rise of 4.7°C above normal.
Daltonganj reported a maximum temperature of 28.8°C and a minimum of 11.6°C, both marginally above normal levels.
At Bokaro (Thermal), temperatures ranged between 27.5°C and 15.1°C.
Meanwhile, Chaibasa (PTO) emerged as the hottest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 30.8°C—4.2°C above normal.

Temperature Extremes
- Highest Maximum Temperature: Chaibasa (PTO) – 30.8°C
- Lowest Minimum Temperature: Ranchi AMFU (Kanke) – 10.8°C
Rainfall and Visibility
No rainfall was recorded at any weather station across Jharkhand during the past 24 hours. There were also no reports of fog formation. The lowest visibility of 1,000 metres was observed at the Jamshedpur Meteorological Office.
Automated Weather Station (AWS) Highlights
Data from Automated Weather Stations across districts, including Bokaro, Deoghar, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Pakur, Ranchi (Aero), Saraikela, Simdega and West Singhbhum indicated:
- Maximum temperatures largely ranging between 27°C and 29.9°C
- Minimum temperatures are mostly between 11°C and 14°C
Ranchi City Observations
- Hinoo: Maximum 26.8°C, Minimum 15.1°C
- Ranchi AMFU: Maximum 25.8°C, Minimum 10.8°C
Overall Outlook
Weather conditions across Jharkhand remain dry and warmer than usual, with no precipitation activity reported. The consistent positive departure from normal temperatures suggests a prolonged mild winter spell, especially during daytime hours.
