New Delhi, June 8: Delhi Police has enforced strict security measures as India prepares for Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony for his third consecutive term as Prime Minister on June 9.
Delhi police officials have stated that multi-layered security arrangements are in place for the event, with five companies of paramilitary forces being deployed for Rashtrapati Bhavan’s security.
Areas near Rashtrapati Bhavan declared ‘controlled’ area
In addition, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers will be deployed to ensure the security of Rashtrapati Bhavan for the significant event.
The police have declared the vicinity around Rashtrapati Bhavan as a ‘controlled’ area.
In the meantime, there is a security check campaign being carried out around Rashtrapati Bhavan and its surrounding areas.
Stringent security measures
As the day approaches with the anticipation of dignitaries from various countries attending the swearing-in ceremony, stringent security measures have been put in place in accordance with the protocol for each Head of State.

Additionally, security measures have been bolstered at the hotels where the dignitaries will be accommodated.
In specified areas such as Sansad Marg, Rafi Marg, Raisina Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Mother Teresa Crescent, and Sardar Patel Marg, only vehicles with event passes will be permitted for movement.
Section 144 and no-flying zone
As per the police, over 500 CCTVs will oversee this program, and Section 144 has been enforced across New Delhi. In light of the swearing-in ceremony, the Delhi Police has implemented several restrictions for June 9 and 10.
During this period, Delhi has been designated as a “no-flying” zone, prohibiting the operation of sub-conventional aerial platforms such as paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, UAVs, UAS, microlight aircraft, and remote-controlled aircraft in the national capital.
Delhi Police issues advisory
According to the advisory posted on X, the Delhi Police has restricted the flying of various aerial devices over Delhi starting June 9, to ensure security during the swearing-in ceremony and protect the public and dignitaries from potential threats.
“With effect from 09.06.2024, there will be a prohibition on flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVS, UASS, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small sized powered aircraft, quadcopters or para-jumping from aircraft etc. over the jurisdiction of the NCT of Delhi in view of swearing-in ceremony in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to thwart criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India from posing a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries and vital installations by using them”, Delhi Police wrote in its advisory that was posted on X.
