Dhanbad, Nov 10: Dhanbad District and Additional Session Judge Sujit Kumar Singh died of sudden cardiac arrest here today in the morning.

According to family members, he had gone to the railway station in the morning to see off his son who went to Kolkata by Delhi – Sealdah Rajdhani Express. As he returned from the station to his residence he began sweating profusely and almost collapsed on the sofa.

Having seen his condition getting unwell, family members immediately brought him to Asian Jalan Hospital where he was referred to Asarfi Hospital. The doctors at Asarfi Hospital declared him brought dead.

District and additional session judge Sujit Kumar Singh ( 54) had joined at Dhanbad two years ago. He has left a lone son and widow behind him.  His son has got a job in Bengaluru and has to join there tomorrow.  He had to take a flight from Dumdum ( Kolkata) to Bengaluru. Sujit Kumar Singh had gone to see him at the station for Kolkata.

Family members said the district and additional district judge had gone to his native village Motihari ( East Champaran district of Bihar) and returned to  Dhanbad today in the early morning.

Sujit Kumar Singh despite busy scheduled judicial work, always participated in social activities. Recently on request of the Dhanbad Press Club he along with civil judge, Senior Division, Dhanbad, Rakesh Roshan on request of the Press Club administered oaths to newly elected office bearers and remained in function till last.

Lawyers to keep away from work 

The Dhanbad Bar Association has convened a condolence meeting in the court over the sudden death of the district and additional session judge tomorrow.

Dhanbad bar president advocate Amrendra Sahay said that lawyers are so shocked by his death that can’t describe it in words. A condolence meeting has been called for tomorrow and lawyers have also decided to keep away from work in honour of the judge.
