Dhanbad: IBPS sets up experts’ committee to spread nature education in Jharkhand

Dhanbad, Dec 14: The Indian Birds Photography Society (IBPS) has constituted a committee of senior lecturers of the state’s educational institutions to carry out a campaign for education of nature among people in the region.

Famous naturalist and wildlife columnist AK Sahay giving this information said that members of the committee are former principal of PK Roy Memorial College Dhanbad Dr BK Sinha, SSLNT Women’s College Dhanbad principal Dr Sharmila Rani and St Xavier College Zoology head of the department  Dr Bharti are prominent members.

“Our countrymen are not aware of the great natural legacy we have inherited and the great variety in our wildlife. There is a need to do some work in this field. So, I have launched the campaign for awareness of people about wildlife”, said Sahay.

Sahay who settled in Dhanbad after after retirement from a financial institution runs two clubs Dhanbad Birders and Indian Birds Photography Society (IBPS) for the campaign. The campaign has two segments first each school or college to exhibit messages from experts and second to interactive session with students about birds (resident birds and migratory birds).

The campaign of AK Sahay kicked start from PK Roy Memorial  College Dhanbad and so far he has organized an awareness programme in 23  educational institutions including  Kasturba Girls School in the remote Tundi block of Dhanbad. While talking with students Sahay focused on two things first about the danger of global warming to life on the planet and second on variety of birds play in our ecosystem.

“These beautiful denizens (wild animals and birds) make our natural world truly magnificent. We must realize that they belong to the same world as ours. So, let us pledge to care and conserve them”, he said.
