Patna, Feb 26: Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal stepped down as Revenue and Land Reforms Minister on Wednesday morning, aligning with the party’s ‘one person, one post’ policy. His resignation came just hours before the state cabinet’s scheduled expansion at 4 pm in Raj Bhavan today.

Jaiswal, who took over as BJP’s state president in July after replacing Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, had been inducted into the cabinet in January last year following Nitish Kumar’s return to the NDA.

Speaking to reporters after resigning, he expressed gratitude to the party leadership and highlighted his key achievement of digitizing over 11 crore pages of land records. He stated that he would now focus entirely on strengthening the party’s organization.

His decision followed a late-night meeting in Patna on Tuesday, chaired by BJP president JP Nadda, where discussions reportedly revolved around the upcoming assembly elections. While party leaders remained tight-lipped about the deliberations, Jaiswal refrained from speculating on new ministerial appointments, stating that such decisions rested with the chief minister.

Regarding concerns over the impact of his resignation on the state’s fresh land survey, Jaiswal clarified that CM Nitish Kumar had temporarily taken charge of the portfolio and assured that a suitable replacement would be appointed soon.
