Ranchi, July 5: Dr B R Sarangi, the senior most judge of the Odisha High Court, took oath as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court today.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhawan today.
Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court to Justice Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi at Birsa Mandap in Raj Bhavan.
Governor extended his hearty congratulations and best wishes to the Chief Justice after he took oath.

Earlier, Principal Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department (Coordination), Vandana Dadel read out the warrant of appointment of Justice Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi to the post of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court and Chief Justice was invited for oath taking by Principal Secretary to Governor Dr. Nitin Kulkarni.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Rabindra Nath Mahato, Judges of Jharkhand High Court, senior officers of Indian Administrative and Police Service and officers and senior advocates of Jharkhand High Court were present on the occasion.
Notably, the Central government notified his appointment on July 4 almost 6 months after the Supreme Court Collegium proposed Justice Sarangi’s elevation. He is now set to retire in less than a month on July 20. He is currently the senior most Judge of the Orissa High Court and will fill the post of CJ which has been lying vacant since December 28, 2023.
