Jamshedpur, January 23: Jharkhand will continue to experience dry and stable weather conditions, with above-normal daytime temperatures and colder-than-normal nights in several districts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, said on Thursday.

Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 25.6°C, which is 1.4°C above normal, while the minimum temperature fell to 7.6°C, 2.2°C below normal, indicating a sharp day-night variation.

Jamshedpur experienced a warmer day with a maximum of 28.0°C, slightly above normal, while the minimum settled at 10.6°C.

Chaibasa Hottest, Kanke Coldest

Among major observation stations, Chaibasa (PTO) recorded the highest maximum temperature at 30.0°C. The lowest minimum temperature was observed at Ranchi (Kanke), which dipped to 3.9°C, reflecting lingering winter chill during early morning hours.

The IMD reported no rainfall across Jharkhand in the past 24 hours and confirmed nil rainfall, fog, and cold wave conditions across the state.

However, reduced visibility was reported at Jamshedpur (MO), where it dropped to 1,200 metres.

Automated Weather Station (AWS) data from various districts showed cool minimum temperatures in Gumla, Khunti, and Latehar, while daytime temperatures remained near or slightly above seasonal averages.

Late January Pattern Continues

Overall, Jharkhand is witnessing pleasant afternoons and cold mornings, a weather pattern typical of late January, with dry conditions likely to persist, the IMD said.
