New Delhi, June: Data released by the Election Commission on Saturday shows that, as of 5 pm, the total voter turnout in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections for 57 parliamentary constituencies was 58.34 per cent.

Till 5 pm, in Jharkhand, the voter turnout stood at approximately 67.95 per cent. Uttar Pradesh saw a polling percentage of 54, West Bengal recorded 69.89, Bihar had 48.86, and Himachal Pradesh reported 66.56 of voting till 5 pm.

As of 5 p.m., Punjab had achieved a voter turnout of 55.20 per cent, while Chandigarh recorded a voting percentage of 62.80. Similarly, Odisha saw around 62.46 per cent voter participation.

Three seats of Jharkhand, namely Dumka, Rajmahal, and Godda voted today.

Jharkhand witnessed a robust voter turnout of 67.95%, with Dumka recording 69.89%, Godda at 67.24%, and Rajmahal at 66.98% till 5 pm.

Voting on 57 seats in 7 states and 1 UT in seventh phase

In the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voting began at 7 am amid tight security in 57 Lok Sabha seats of seven states and one union territory.

The 57 Lok Sabha seats include one seat from the union territory of Chandigarh, all 13 seats from Punjab, four from Himachal Pradesh, 13 from Uttar Pradesh, nine from West Bengal, eight from Bihar, six from Odisha and three from Jharkhand.

904 candidates in fray, 10.06 crore eligible voters

A total of 904 candidates are in the fray for 57 Lok Sabha seats in the final phase. These include PM Modi from Varanasi seat, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Mamta Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa Bharti and actress Kangana Ranaut.

The fate of these candidates will be decided by 10.06 crore voters. These include 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women and 3,574 transgenders.
