ECI invites Congress for discussion on Maharashtra poll concerns

New Delhi, Nov 30: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has invited the Congress party on December 3 for a discussion on the issues raised by them regarding the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Congress has been consistently raising concerns related to various aspects of the Maharashtra election process, particularly regarding the EVMs. The Election Commission has responded to the questions raised by Congress regarding the vote count and voter turnout in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

In its response to Congress on Saturday, the Election Commission stated that polling agents were continuously provided with information regarding the voter turnout and total number of voters during the election process. However, if there are any further complaints or queries, the Election Commission is ready to listen to them in detail.

Reports suggest that the Election Commission has invited the Congress delegation for a meeting on December 3 at 5 PM.

Complaints and suggestions memorandum to be submitted to ECI

According to sources, a detailed discussion will take place in the meeting called by the Election Commission between senior Congress leaders and ECI officials. The discussion will focus on the authenticity of the EVMs, transparency in the voting process, and other administrative issues.

Congress has urged the Election Commission to ensure that future elections are completely fair and transparent. It is reported that the party has prepared a memorandum of its complaints and suggestions, which will be submitted to the Election Commission during the meeting.

Congress sees this meeting as a positive step towards improving the democratic process. The Election Commission has assured that all of Congress’s issues will be considered impartially.

Congress delegation met ECI on Friday

Raising doubts about the results of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, a delegation from the state Congress met the Election Commission on Friday.

The Congress questioned how nearly 10 lakh votes increased after data updating. The party wanted to understand why there were issues despite the entire process being online.

The Congress delegation included leaders like Abhishek Manu Singhvi, KC Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala, among others.

Maharashtra Congress leaders claimed that the Election Commission updated the voter turnout at 11:59 PM, but the next day, the votes increased by 1.3%. They added that nearly 9.99 lakh votes were added, and questioned why this was not announced.
