New Delhi, July 9: As part of its probe into a multi-crore VAT scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday began an extensive search operation at 14 locations in Haryana.

The Enforcement Directorate’s Chandigarh Zonal office is currently conducting raids. These raids are focused on three Haryana Civil Service officers and several private individuals who are suspected of being involved in the scam.

Sources reveal that the search operation aims to uncover evidence of money laundering and other financial irregularities tied to the scam. ED officials are meticulously searching the premises for documents and records connected to the purported scam.

Estimates indicate that the state exchequer suffered a major financial loss as a result of the Value Added Tax (VAT) scam, with a deficit of approximately Rs 70 crore.

Following the Haryana Police’s filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and other accused parties in connection with the scam, the ED launched its counteroperation.
