Kolkata, Jan 12: In relation to a case involving a municipal jobs scam that allegedly occurred at many civic bodies between 2014 and 2018, an Enforcement Directorate team searched several places in West Bengal on Friday.
Two premises connected to Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose and one location each connected to Trinamool MLA Tapas Roy and a former vice-chairman of the municipality were reportedly being searched, as per the details.
The searches started this morning at about 6:40 a.m.

CBI, ED probing the case; carried raids earlier also
The CBI was instructed to look into the anomalies in municipal recruitment by the Calcutta High Court in April 2023.
Both investigative bodies, namely the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), are scrutinizing discrepancies in the hiring processes conducted by municipal authorities.
On June 7th, the CBI carried out raids at 16 different places, securing documents from civic bodies across Nadia, Hooghly and North 24 Parganas districts, as well as the Salt Lake municipality.
Subsequently, in August 2023, the West Bengal government’s plea contesting the CBI investigation into the case was denied by the Supreme Court.
On October 5th, the Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at numerous places, including the residence of Rathin Ghosh, the Minister of Food and Supplies, as part of the investigation into the recruitment case.
