Prayagraj, Feb 26: The puja will continue in the Vyas basement of the Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi as the Allahabad High Court has rejected the petition filed by the Muslim party challenging the Varanasi Court verdict.

Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal had reserved his decision on February 15 after hearing both sides. Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal, while giving his verdict, said that worship will continue in the basement of Vyas ji.

Rejecting the petition of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, the court said that after looking at the entire record of the case and hearing the arguments of the concerned parties, the court did not find any ground to interfere in the decision passed by the District Judge of Varanasi.

Muslim Committee had challenged Varanasi Court’s decision in Allahabad HC

Notably, the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, which manages the Gyanvapi Masjid, had filed an appeal in the Allahabad High Court against both the decisions of the Varanasi District Judge.

The District Judge of Varanasi had passed the order on January 17, 2024, to appoint the District Magistrate of Varanasi as the receiver of Vyas ji’s basement. The decision to allow worship in the basement was passed on 31 January 2024.

Muslim side might approach Supreme Court

In the Gyanvapi case, Hindu side’s lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain said that today the Allahabad High Court has rejected the first appeal of the order of Anjuman Intezamia, which was directed against the orders of January 17 and 31 and that the way puja was going on in Vyas basement, it will continue in future too.

He added that if Anjuman Intezamia comes to the Supreme Court, they will also file their caveat in the Supreme Court.

In the Gyanvapi case, advocate Prabhash Pandey said that today the court has rejected the petition of the Muslim side and puja will continue in Vyas basement. This is a big victory for Sanatan Dharma. Muslim parties can review this or go to the Supreme Court.
