Jamshedpur, March 21: Hail accompanied by thundershowers and lightning, gusty wind (max wind speed: 50-60 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places over southern and adjoining central parts of the state today.
Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) are also expected at isolated places over northern parts of the state today.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre in a bulletin issued this morning issued the alerts and appealed to people to stay indoors in the event of thundershowers and lightning.
Tomorrow, thunderstorm and lightning, gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places over southern, central and north-eastern parts of the state.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with gusty wind (max wind speed: 30-40 kmph) is also likely to occur at isolated places over north-western parts of the state.
A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh to north Odisha across Chhattisgarh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
The trough/wind discontinuity from Marathwada to south Tamil Nadu now runs from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood to north Interior Karnataka across Maharashtra at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, several places across Jharkhand experienced thundershowers and lightning last evening.
The rainfall activity resulted in a drop in maximum temperature in most parts of the state including Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj.
